When I heard that we were going on vacation to Winston Salem, North Carolina, I immediately pictured racecar driving. This was fine but I’m not much of a fan of the sport. As I learned more and more about the area, I discovered that there is a lot more to Winston Salem than racing. In fact, there are so many attractions that I think we many need to return for a future trip.
The most appealing of the attractions is the area’s wine industry. I had no idea that Winston Salem had the type of climate that is good for grapes. Actually, the region is ideal and there are plenty of wineries around to prove it. Just reading about the many places to visit for wine lovers made me really thirsty. There is a long history of wine making in Winston Salem. The various wineries and vineyards in this area have been in service for over 100 years. I usually associate North American wines with the Napa Valley region but North Carolina is ideal for this product.
The success of the various wineries in Winston Salem is due to the climate. The temperature is commonly pretty mild and this is ideal for growing the perfect grape for the perfect wine. The land is known for being rich and fertile in Winston Salem North Carolina and the producers of the wine are skilled in their craft. There is little surprise that there are over 500,000 gallons of wine produced in this region every year. This mind boggling figure is no shock to a real wine lover like me. I know how easy it is to finish an entire bottle of good wine during a nice meal. I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to the trip.
The wine isn’t the only thing drawing us to Winston Salem. There are many fine places to stay and there are tons of activities in this relatively underestimated city. I can see that our trip is going to be fantastic and our accommodations will be really comfy, too. My husband’s relatives who live in this region will be surprised to find us staying over a week in Winston Salem. I know that we will share wonderful times together but I am also excited to explore this town as a couple, too. The city is known for it’s romantic accommodations. I just hope his relatives don’t think we’re staying with them.
