I have always wanted to have a canopy bed in my bedroom. For some reason, this has always been at the bottom of my priority list. Perhaps it is because we are so rough on furniture, that we are constantly having to buy a new couch or a new chair. This leaves little room in the budget for me to buy my dream bed. One day I hope to have some sort of canopy bed and I know that even if it seems cheesy, I will have mosquito netting around my bed. To me, there’s nothing more romantic. We all need a little more romance as far as I’m concerned.
People originally used mosquito netting for a very simple purpose. Homes were not what they are today and in order to get to sleep, you had to have some sort of barrier between you and the outside world. Mosquitoes were a big problem and who can sleep when you are being bit by mosquitoes? Mosquito netting came about to help people sleep better, while keeping the bugs out, but still leading the fresh air and cool breezes in. If you read any type of the store a romance or novel, you will notice that none of people used mosquito netting so that they can sleep through the night.
You may still want to use mosquito netting if you do a lot of camping. Most tents are built with a screen so that you do not have to worry about bugs getting in while you are sleeping. If you do not have this type of tent, you may want to get some sort of mosquito netting to make sure you keep the bugs off of you at night. It may even be useful during the day if you wish to take a short snooze. You may not be able to keep all of the bugs from you, but the majority may stay away.
There are a variety of different places where you can get mosquito netting. You may find it in specialty home stores or you can find something to make it yourself. If you are at all crafty, this is something that you can do on your own. All you have to do is find some tulle material at your local craft store to make your own. You can get this material and almost any color you wish, and that means you can match your new mosquito netting to your bedroom décor.
